What is Piranha Bite Club? Inside EXCO's feeding-frenzy slot

Piranha Bite Club is EXCO Game Studio's underwater feeding-frenzy slot — a 5×5, 35-payline grid with a 5×1 Swimmer Reel floating above it. It went live on 29 June 2026. One month in, here's how it actually works.

What is the Swimmer Reel?

It's not a sixth row. It's a separate register sitting above the main grid, and it's the reason the game reads the way it does.

In base game, the Swimmer Reel loads a multiplier above each reel — blank/1×, 2×, 3×, 4×, 5× or 10×. Players see what's loaded before the reels stop. You know what's waiting up there. You just don't know yet whether anything will reach it.

In Free Spins it switches from multipliers to cash prizes, with no blanks.

How do Piranha Wilds work?

Piranha Wilds land in three sizes — 1×1, 1×3 and 1×5. If one lands partially on the grid, it nudges into full view. Then it swims up its reel and inherits the multiplier waiting above.

Here's the rule that defines the whole game: when multiple Piranhas land on the same winline, their multipliers multiply together. They don't add. A 5× Piranha and a 10× Piranha on one line isn't 15×. It's 50×, applied to the win.

That single design decision is where the volatility comes from.

What is the Piranha Cash Grab?

The Free Spins round, and it strips the game to the bone. Regular symbols vanish entirely. Only sticky 1×5 School of Piranha symbols land.

Each sticky School collects the cash prize above its reel every single spin, multiplied by its own multiplier. Every new Piranha that lands adds +1 Free Spin. Overlay multipliers can land on top of an existing School — boosting it for the rest of the bonus, triggering a Free Re-Spin, and adding another +1 spin.

The run extends while you're watching it. Three, four or five scatters trigger 10, 12 or 15 spins to start with — where it ends is a different question.
